FAQ's
Composite decking boards can be installed on treated timber, composite of metal substructure. Whilst timber is an economical choice, it is unlikely to last as long as the warranted 25 years of your Ecodek boards. To ensure the longevity of your project, we would recommend the use of either steel or aluminum frame, or to use our Ecodek composite substructure. See our Support Beams page for more information.
If the area that you want to install your decking is uneven, the use of adjustable height pedestals allows correction of slopes and angles and creates a stable base on which to install your deck. See our Pedestals & packers page for more information.
Equally, if the decking installation is above a waterproof membrane, then using a rubber packer or shim will protect the surface below the substructure.
The fixings we supply are specifically designed for our composite products, and using an alternative product will invalidate the warranty. Complete fixing details are found in our installation instructions which are available to download for each of our ranges.
It’s important to bearing mind that if your wooden decking is of a considerable height, you may be required to install a handrail or balustrade. This is important for safety, as well as for peace of mind (particularly if you have a tall deck in a garden where small children play).
